Follow the instructions for set up and first use. A little tweaking was necessary the first few uses, but after that it worked just fine in my 14' x 28' in-ground vinyl pool, even under my solar cover. It can get high centered occasionally on the outlet cover in the deep end due to suction at the cleaner head. I changed the outlet cover to one that was not so smooth. Other than these few things I have not had to manually clean my pool since I got it, I actually have the time and energy to swim.

recommended to me by my pool cleaner...I had never heard of it before but bought one on his recommendation since he said, "It just works". I have not been disappointed...simple to setup, no adjustments necessary and it picks up anything on the bottom of the pool (leaves, plaster, etc). Won't climb walls but I can't imagine any system that would.

For 10 years I was loyal to the hayward navigator. But, the parts go often, the suction has to be perfect, and they only last about 4 years. I like this one much better. It climbs the walls like a champ! Changes in suction have only minor impact on its cleaning ability. I highly recommend.

After being a Hayward Navigator diehard for 10 yrs, I decided to try something different. The Navigator is great as long as the suction is perfect. Run across a pebble or have too little or two much suction, good night! I was tired of having to have everything just right and tired of constantly untangling the hose. I put my new PVN 2X together in 5 minutes, put her in the water that evening, woke up to a crystal clear pool. So far, I am delighted with this product.

YES it is made in the USA. I have a vinyl liner pool, the cleaner has climbed the walls to the surface due to the strong suction which I can adjust. I have had two other models of pool cleaners that were made by a major company, this out performs them both. I'll never own another brand but this one.

My pool is mosaic tiled and is hard for the cleaner to go up the hard slope at the bottom of the pool imagine going up side walls and steps as it slips easily as it has no grip and/or enough suction even though it revs at 14 rpm.I had very high hopes but not all is lost. I suggest a brush is fitted at the bottom center to scrape the bottom too.

Best-EVER purchase I have made for pool maintenance. I now enjoy my pool instead of spending a LOT of time cleaning it/vacuuming it. I am using fewer chemicals because the water circulation is so much better; less electricity because the pump doesn't have to run at a max PSI; for some reason, I don't have to skim the surface of the pool as much anymore! Probably should have gotten the 4X for my 20 x 40 to handle the extra hose length. I just have to move the hose from one skimmer to other. Shut down the main drain valve and one skimmer and it took off like a champ. Does a great job!

Gizmo (Poolvergneugen) is the BEST purchase I've made for pool maintenance. I wish I'd found it sooner, unless of course, this is a new product. I tell everyone about it. I mention it on Facebook. Not only does it keep the pool cleaner than when I didn't work full-time, it is quite entertaining to watch! What more can a pool-owner want? I had a side-pressure driven "cleaner" and had to run the pump at max (15psi). It crawled slower than Gizmo runs at 11-12psi. It would get stuck; therefore, not cleaning the floor. I had to vacuum frequently. I love my GIZMO!

I've tried several cleaners (Hayward, Barracuda, [...] brand, etc.) and they all seem to get stuck in corners, this one never did. Build quality is very good. This unit is preprogrammed and cleaners the bottom of pool thoroughly. I haven't yet manually vacuumed once since I installed the unit. Only minor problem is it picks up EVERY little piece of debri, so you have to clean out the pump tray more often. Hooking up unit was very easy. I had to adjust pool valves to get correct suction to vacuum cleaner. This unit demands at least a 1 1/2 HP pump. Its been two months and so far the best cleaner I've used! Get the FOUR wheeled unit vs. the two. The four will get up walls better and will drag/pull the attached hoses more efficiently. My brother has the four and I have the two wheel. I regret not getting the four wheeled for the added power, at a minor cost difference.

I was able to set this up in no time. Great instructions - and I'm not a good instruction reader...usually hate instructions. This little Gizmo is the best purchase I've made for my pool maintenance. I don't know how long this product has been available; I'm just glad I found it. It doesn't get stuck in a corner or just float if the pressure wanes a bit. It cleaned the pool in just the first 2-3 hours - cleaner than I can get it when I vacuum. And, no more cleaning out debris from bags! I have struggled for a long time trying to find a pool vac that will NOT get stuck on my two drains at the bottom. I was told by several so-called "professionals" that there was nothing I could do. I have now had this pool cleaner for two plus months and I am truly amazed its cleaning ability. I live in a climate where we get sand storms and of course the sand ends up in the pool. Every other pool cleaner, all highly recommend, couldn't keep up with the cleaning. This pool cleaner not only keeps up but excels at cleaning and normally cleans my 36 X 15 foot pool in 4 to 5 hours after the end of one of these sand storms. All I can say is WOW!!!!!!

Nothing to assemble except the hoses which is great compared with the Loews of the shelf unit which I got so frustrated with trying to assemble that decided to return it. Only work with a skimmer or suction inlet with a lot of suction power. I had to plug the pool bottom suction to get enough suction. If you don't have enough suction, the turbines rattle and the unit will not be able to crawl up the walls or go in the shallow end. Even with the proper suction, the unit spends more time in the deep end but I found running it about 2 hours a day for my size pool is enough to keep it clean and circulate the chemicals.

I have pulled my hair out trying to get my VERY EXPENSIVE pool cleaner to clean properly. It got stuck on the drain at the bottom of the pool constantly. I tried EVERYTHING prevent the sticking. I have had two prior pool cleaners and by far this is the best one yet. I have a 36 X 15 ft. 17000 Gallon in ground recreational pool and within four hours it was clean and free of debris. And it was entertaining to watch it work. The only problem encountered was if it approached some built in steps at an angle it would struggle to climb them. However if it approached the stairs straight on it had no problem.

I would recommend this product to other pool owners. I have a lap pool that is 40 x 9 with a small shallow end tag. The pool suction connection is on the side near the center. Once I got the hose length and the RPM adjusted (easy) the unit is doing a good job. I usually let it run about 5 hours and it will clean most areas. The only area it seem not to get to is up steps and a couple of bench seats in the pool. a couple of sweeps with my pool broom takes care of these areas. I called the company in Santa Rosa, CA and asked if I could buy the cam for the 4 wheel model thinking I might get greater straight runs. They were excellent in their customer service [...]

I have an average size in-ground play pool and have used the Hayward Navigator which is a money pit every year and then I tried the Zodiac G4 which resulted in poor cleaning coverage with constant tweaking. My pool tech. recommended the The Pool Cleaner. The cleaner was easy to set-up and I was amazed on the design and build of the unit. I have had the cleaner for 2 weeks and it has picked up leafs and palm tree debris effortlessly. Very easy to set up and use. Does not do well with leaves so they should be removed first. Only 32' of hose so I was unable to use my skimmers for suction. Luckily I have an in-pool outlet but it still would not climb the incline from deep to shallow. My deep end is 9' though rather than usual 8'. The hose comes in sections which is an advantage for storage as well as, in my case shortening the hose and using shallow end skimmer to clean shallow end.

My pool is a 18'x33' ,vinyl lined, with 3' vertical sides throughout and 5' inclined sides at deep end to a 8' depth. There is a 10' inclined bottom connecting the shallow and deep ends. If the robot starts it quickly gets to the deep end and can infrequently get back. It climbs about half way up inclines but gets stuck against the vertical sides in the shallow end. It takes 6 to 10 hours to clean the pool with several relocations of the robot to the shallow end. Brushing the vertical sides is necessary for complete cleaning.

Living in Arizona the pool cleaner gets a good work out. I had to teach it were the end of the pool was and after that it cleans the whole pool including the sides. Our dogs especial like it when it comes up the side and runs along the water line.

This cleaner was recommended by our pool service. We had a Polaris 360(junk) and switched to this product. The cleaning is incredible. The only thing I'd change is the amount of noise it makes when it gets to the edge of the pool-it makes a slurping sound. Adjusting the RPM helps, but it still does it once in a while. Overall, it's a great product!

It was simple to setup. From opening of the box, to tuned at proper pressure and cleaning the pool - about 20 minutes. It freezes whenever it gets clogged - which it does sometimes with just a few pine needles or leaves. I've had it for about three weeks and it has clogged twice in that time period. Other than that, it does a great job, cleans the whole pool, does the sides well (doesn't climb the stairs though), and is pretty hassle free.

I've been running this for about 6 weeks now. For all the rave reviews this had, I expeted much better performance than what I have experienced. I have a dedicated line for a pool cleaner and was using a Zodiac Barracuda G4 before until replacment parts started to add up. This cleaner would work GREAT on a flat bottom pool or an above ground pool. I have a 28 X 42 "T" shaped pool with a 9' deep end. I adjusted the "speed" (i.e. suction) as recomended in the instruction and this will NOT climb walls, and wont even crawl out of the deep end. I set it up in the shallow end and in about an hour or two it ends up doing circles in the deep end. It wont even climb the angled sides in the deep end. However... IF I turn off all the valves and run a 2 HP pump with a 120 GPM flow rate through a single line, it will finally climb the angled sides and find its way out of the deep end. But it STILL wont climb vertical walls.

It still beats getting the pole out and doing it manually, but again... it isn't perfect. I expected better performance.

This is the 2nd unit we've owned since installing our 14 X 32 fiberglass pool 5 years ago. Pool contractor gave us our 1st unit because he personally owned this product. Sole negative: the plastic "skirt" inserts which snap/slide into plastic channels on bottom and holds them in place - crucial part of product - channels can chip/break easily if skirts improperly inserted or forced into channel slots (I learned the hard way). I believe chlorine may also make the plastic brittle over time so do not leave it sitting in pool when not in use. Be careful in initial set up so as not to break/crack these channels & always lift unit by built in handle located on it's back. Never set product down on the "skirt things". Other than "skirt" issues - no other quality complaints. Appears product is back in full production so locating parts should no longer be an issue. So simple to use and maintain. Looks good while in use. Does a solid job cleaning whole floor of our odd shaped pool within 4 hours. If you have a medium or small sized pool and don't want to install a power booster for a Polaris, this is truly the ONLY product you should be considering.

For the price the product works quite well. The initail set up is extremely easy. The hoses have yet to snag or get caught up on me. The device handles the walls and drain well. Super easy to maintain and use. Only one draw back - it does take a few hours to all day to completely clean the pool...but... it completely cleans the pool. Not bad if you start it in the morning go to work and when you come home - beautiful sparkling pool. But, if you want to have an early morning swim and you hadn't used it for a few days - week then you're out of luck - pull out the old manual vaccum. I guess with the proper planning I can give it 5 stars...otherwise 3-4 because it's sloooow. On the plus side - one of the less expensive models and no problems like those described for creep crawlies and barracuda type machines.

I bought the smaller version due to negative comments about the larger model. I wish I purchased the larger one. My pool is 35,000 gal and 950 sf on the surface. While the hose will reach from one of the skimmers to each end, I find that i need to switch between skimmers to make sure it covers the entire pool.
But this is a plug and play device. Drop it in and forget it. It's a self propelled vac and it does a great job. Simple and effective

Inexpensive, easy to set up, works right out of the box but I had to get 6 more lengths of hose to reach every corner of a 20' x 40' pool. It works great and saves a ton of work.

My Pool Service guy recommended this to me when my Kreepy Krauly died. Didn't want to repair or replace my Kreepy because it was constantly breaking and parts were outrageously expensive.

This unit is simple mechanically and very easy to install and operate so I expect it to be relatively service free. Biggest advantage over other cleaners I looked at was the fact that this thing works entirely off of the pool suction and leaves its waste in the skimmer or filter to be cleaned out. Pulls itself and its hose around the pool with random turns - really does cover the entire pool. Not like my Kreepy that went where the hose pushed it and ended up spending 95% of its time in the deep end of the pool. Great unit - can't recommend it more highly!

Great product, good price, and easy to install. However we have a large pool so it took 3+ hours to clean the pool. But that was not a problem, set-up early in the morning and swim by lunch time.

The product did everything the reviews previously claimed. It cleans the pool perfectly and no hang ups and actually goes up the walls very well. My only complaint is I didn't get enough hose to fully reach the shallow end properly.

This pool cleaner replaced a Hayward Navigator. I was tired of the Navigator hanging up on the pool steps and grinding through pod after pod.

The Pool Cleaner does not get hung up pool steps. Its programmed cleaning pattern seems a little strange at first, but it cleans my 15,600 gallon in-ground pool in under four hours.

My only complaint is that it doesn't climb walls at the recommended pressure (7-10 in. vacuum). I have my valve set to pull 9-10 in. of vacuum and the cleaner starts to climb the pool wall, but separates when the "wheel bump" his the wall. This is minor inconvenience and is rectified by setting the pressure higher with the valve.

It has been two weeks since I dropped The Pool Cleaner into my pool and I am very satisfied so far.

I've owned an in-ground pool in the metro Phoenix area for 9 years and have gone through two Kreepy Krauly's. The last one lasted less than two years before a flimsy piece of plastic that holds down the floats broke off and required replacement of the entire unit. I never realized how loud the Kreepy Krauly was until recently--the hose would get stuck all the time on my waterfall and I could tell late at night by the noise and vibration I heard and felt inside the house if it was stuck or if it was moving around the pool. I had to unstick it many times every day (and night). After lots of research, I luckily came across the Poolvergnuegen PVN 2X Suction In-ground Pool Cleaner, or "The Pool Cleaner" 2-wheel model. Although I've only been using it for four days, it is picking up leaves that my KK would regularly miss, and it is picking up small rocks and pebbles that my KK has apparently been missing for years (I would occasionally find small pebbles in my pump basket, but since installing The Pool Cleaner, I'm finding lots of pebbles in my pump basket). My KK, when it wasn't stuck, would also travel a figure-8 route through my kidney-shaped, Pebble Tec play pool thereby missing the insides of the 8. I would always have to brush this area by hand and push it to the center where the KK would clean. The Pool Cleaner has cleaned every part of the bottom of my pool every night and the hose has never became stuck, and because of the pattern/way The Pool Cleaner moves, I am certain it will never get stuck. I was impressed with the quality of the unit--definitely heavy duty. When I took my KK out of the pool for the last time, I realized it really is a flimsy unit with many fragile parts. I'm looking forward to only replacing warn-out tire treads. I'll write back if I encounter any problems, but I strongly believe I have finally found the perfect pool cleaner that will perform exceptionally for many years (no wonder why they don't carry it at the local pool stores).

My pool is 35'x18' and goes from 4' deep to 10' deep. Initially, I noticed that the cleaner had a hard time making up the incline from the deep to the shallow end. It would usually just veer off to one side or the other and only rarely make it up to the shallow end....and then head right back down to the deep end. I played with the amount of suction and placing the floats higher and lower, but it didn't make much of a difference. I called the manufacturer (very customer friendly) to see if they had any ideas. After some discussion, they said they would send me a different cam to install. This cam allows the cleaner to travel in one direction for a longer time before initiating a turn. They even offered to send someone out at no charge to change out the cam for me. Did I mention they are very customer friendly? The new cam was easy to install and made big difference. Now the entire pool stays clean, not just the deep end. Climbs walls and doesn't get stuck on the stairs.

It has been a week and the cleaner is working quite well.
I like that it cleans the bottom on low very effectively.
My former cleaner was the Hayward Navigator and it was inactive during the low speed cycle of my filtration schedule so I had to run the high speed for 1 1/2 hours to keep the pool clean.
This cleaner enables me to decrease the high speed cycle to 45 minutes and still have a spotless pool every morning, Saving electricity and effort.

It seems durable as well but it has only been a week, very happy at this point.

Been the whole route with other cleaners in this price range, and there are none better than this one. Cleans the entire pool in half the time of others, doesn't tangle hose, doesn't seem to be affected by return jets. Only drawback I have found, if you increase the suction enough for it to climb walls, it will hang on the edge of a step if (and only if) both wheels come off the ground. Would highly recommend this one.

Bought this cleaner as a replacement to the Pentair Water "Great White,” in hopes that it might do a better job. Here in Florida, we use our pool year-round. The Great White was often stuck over the drain, stuck up against a wall, or flipped over on its back. Also it never spent enough time in the shallow end to properly clean it (regardless of the number of floats I attached to the front bar). I had exhausted all possible adjustments, including having it serviced twice ($55).

Wow this PVN 2X is obviously a better-quality product! It never gets stuck, cleans the entire pool floor AND it runs silently (the Great White sounded like a mini jackhammer – very annoying)! My only regret is that I put up with the Great White for so long – it was my own stubborn attitude that all pool cleaners are the same. Clearly they are not. The PVN 2X is the superior product! I’m very satisfied with it.

I've tried several pool cleaners, this is by far the best one I've tried, I plugged it into the pool and off it went, it cleans far better than any I've tried, as well as climbing the walls, which others say they would do, but didnt. This one actually does. It is very quiet in operation as well.

So far this cleaner is fantastic. Quick, does not hang up, few moving parts, etc. etc.

The tangle free hose is VERY nice, no more loops.

I would have given it 5 stars if it climber higher on the walls like the instructions says it should, but the lack of climbing height may be due to my setup.

Set up unit in place of suction disk style. Very small adjustment in pressure needed. Does not go up to the top of the wall, pool is super clean everywhere else. The old one did hang-up near the stairs, this one does not get stuck.

I ordered the gray unit with the gray hose. The set up was simple. Just connect the hose sections and put into the suction intake. It went right to work quietly and efficiently and cleaned entire pool within first 1/2 hour. Excellent. I recommend this one overf the Hayward Navigator.

This product is easy to set-up and use. The only problem that I have with it is when it gets to the end of its hose length, the unit tilts at an upward angle and doesn't always clean what it runs over. I have had to manually help it in this instance. But if you want ease of use with about a 98% hassle free use, this is the one. It's very lightweight and takes about 2 minutes to set-up and get going. The hoses are in 2 foot lengths and easy to store.

After having tolerated the Kreepy from Pentair and cleaners from Hayward I finally decided to try again. Finally I found the best pool cleaner which cleans the entire pool and never gets stuck on ladders, stairs, etc. It is totally quiet.
I had to experiment with the right amount of suction so that the cleaner could climb from the deep end to the shallow end but now it works perfectly. I purchased the two wheel model since the pool is totally cleaned by the hoses enclosed in the package.

After years of hang-ups and so-so results with my Kreepy Krawly, I asked my pool guy what he thought was the best automatic pool cleaner on the market. He said "The Pool Cleaner" is the one to go with. After reading up on it and its various reviews, I bought the 2-wheel model. So far I have to say it is one of the best investments I have made for my pool.

It is easy to assemble, what little there is, and very easy to "program" the wheel speed of the cleaner. I had it up and running within 10 - 15 minutes after taking it out of the box and attaching the hoses. So far, in the month & a half I've had it, I have had no hang-ups, which always occured with the Kreepy Krawly, and it is silent in it's operation. The Kreepy Krawly made a vibrating sound, which gets annoying when the pumps come on in the morning and wakes you up.

"The Pool Cleaner" looks to be of the highest quality, and being made in the USA is just an added bonus when buying this product.

I would highly recommend this to anybody looking for a new pool cleaner.

The vacuum is very reliable. It does a better job than other vacuums in getting to all parts of the pool. The only disadvantage is that the hose tends to get tangled -- maybe because the vaccum is so good about changing direction.

Very solid, US made product. Never gets stuck by the stairs. Easy to set up. Seems like it has much fewer parts that can break compared to my old Hayward Navigator. Unlike Baracuda G3, this one covers/cleans entire pool, never gets stuck by the stairs, and even climbs the walls. Definitely recommended.

We purchased the pool cleaner to keep the pool clean and it does exactly that. To conserve energy we only put the pool filter on 25%. It does not climb the sides at this percentage but it keeps the bottom completley cleaned. Easy to remove from pool and replace. It does exactly what we wanted it to do and has made a major difference in the cleanliness in the pool.

I have owned pop ups, Kreepy, Hayward, and this little thing is so far my favorite. This cleaner cleans the entire bottom and about two feet up the sides. It doesn't clean the stairs, but the only cleaner I've ever owned that did was pop ups. It is silent to operate which I have missed having owned a Kreepy for the last few years. I expect some maintenance parts like the Navigator, but hopefully fewer since there seems to be fewer wearable parts.
